Saniya Pearson (Poetry SAP) is an International Baccalaureate senior at Central High School in Capital Heights, MD. She earned the title of 2024 Youth Poet Laureate of PG County, sharing her poetry across various platforms. In 2024, she was honored at the General Maryland Assembly, receiving a Senate Resolution commemorating her term as Youth Poet Laureate of the county. Prince George’s County Board of Education also has presented her with the Unsung Hero Award, and she was awarded the Achievement Award from the Prince George’s County English Department.

Throughout the years, she has traveled to San Francisco, Wisconsin, and D.C. to compete with the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) Slam Team in the Brave New Voices Competition. Saniya is looking forward to continuing her passion for performing socially conscious and uplifting pieces as well as becoming a civil rights attorney. She strives to use her words to empower, connect, and invoke a call to action.
